Total Film complained that it was too similar to Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, Troy, King Arthur and Highlander. Ha. They are right but its nothing to complain about.
Historically, it picks up right were Kingdom of Heaven left off. It feels like a continuation of that world with new but familiar characters and Scott's signature epicness. The pacing is like KoH and Gladiator. Its gritty, rough, well acted, and surprisingly fun. Plus, archery is cool.
This movie ties Men in Tights for best Robin Hood and I really hope there is a sequel involving an aged Balian of Ibelin.
