TRON: Legacy

Mmmmmmmmmm, so delicious. My eyes were drooling. Never before has a film covered up such large flaws so overwhelmingly. Anything negative became irrelevant once Daft Punk blankets the atmosphere and the effects start flying. Modestly touching story with characters I quickly grew to enjoy. Quorra is cool, The Dude 2.0 is awesome, Tron (the character) is wonderfully heartbreaking, and Sam wins you over with his psychotic edge despite Hedlund's stoic acting.

Really is all about that dominating score. The best in the history of film? Possibly. The best background music when passing a cop parked on the highway? Unequivocally.

A Top Ten for 2010.

Whats shorter and sweeter than a Top Eleven List? Don't you dare say top ten. Who said top ten? Top tens are so last millennium. Also noted will be the type of film that they are. Why? Cuz who's gonna stop me.

The Social Network (2010)

Directed by David Fincher

Engaging and intense throughout. I'm classifying it as a fiction dramedy inspired by true events. Suffered from Justin Timberlake over-saturation. Not that he did a poor job, Timberlake proved to be a capable actor and his dominance when on screen is undeniable, but he simply drew far too much attention to himself. It was more a problem with the character.

Eisenberg proves he and Michael Cera will duke it out for years to come on who has better hidden talents underneath that unassuming-cool-nerd guise. Rooney Mara's short role was brilliant. Sorkin's writing was stand out, brought to life by great acting. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' score was spectacular.

Best Line:
Cameron Winkelvoss (Reaper's Armie Hammer): We dont even have to do that..Im 6'5, 220 and there's two of me.

Easy A

Saw it for the parallel with my life. And by that I mean the monstrosity that is Pocket Full of Sunshine. A truly horrendous song that I will immediately and emphatically sing along with after eternally bonding with a demonic cell phone flip advertisement in that one Entertainment Weekly.

The movie was OK, kind of funny. Not bad. Id have liked it more if it didn't wind up as a girl-gets-guy flick but who am I kidding, its a movie.

The A Team

Directed by Joe Carnahan
Starring
Liam Neeson
Bradley Cooper
Sharlto Copley
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson
Jessica Biel

Plot is irrelevant...even if it would have been a good plot. Action and Awesome start almost immediately and, because of strong performances, never let up.

The actors are perfect. I think I spent most of the dialogue time lost gazing into Bradley Cooper's stubble.

Favorite lines:
"I'm B.A. (pause) and your gonna be (pause) unconscious. "
"...and they specialize in the ridiculous."

How to Train Your Dragon

Directed by a couple jazzy dudes. (I could look them up but nah. Dean Dubouis? Lets go Dean Dubouis.)
Starring:
Jay Baruchel
America Ferrara
Gerard Butler
Craig Ferguson
David Tennent
Kristen Wiig
Jonah Hill
McLovin

Funny, touching, visually brillant, David Tennent was in it, and the lead has my birthday. The second best animated film and easily the flagship success of Dreamworks.

Robin Hood

Directed by Ridley Scott
Starring Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, Cate Blanchete, Kevin Durand, William Hurt.

Total Film complained that it was too similar to Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, Troy, King Arthur and Highlander. Ha. They are right but its nothing to complain about.

Historically, it picks up right were Kingdom of Heaven left off. It feels like a continuation of that world with new but familiar characters and Scott's signature epicness. The pacing is like KoH and Gladiator. Its gritty, rough, well acted, and surprisingly fun. Plus, archery is cool.

This movie ties Men in Tights for best Robin Hood and I really hope there is a sequel involving an aged Balian of Ibelin.
